Consumer electronics, explained without the marketing

We read the specification sheets, the published repair manuals and the battery data, then explain what each of them means for the device you are about to buy.

How we work

Gadget Gauges is written by an editorial team. We do not run a test laboratory and we do not publish sponsored reviews, so every guide is built from documentation you can check yourself.

Read about our approach

Published specifications

We read the full specification sheet, not the summary on the box, and explain where a figure is measured under conditions you will never reproduce.

Repair documentation

Service manuals, parts availability and parts-pairing policies are the clearest statement a manufacturer makes about how long a device can be kept.

Battery and support windows

Charge-cycle ratings, software support dates and update policies are published for most mainstream devices. We use those numbers as published.

Corrections stay visible

When a specification changes or we get something wrong, the article is corrected rather than quietly rewritten in a new post.
